ICEFA 2020 Prize Awards – Tauranga, New Zealand

On October 22, 2020, the awards ceremony for the 47th and 48th International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice took place in Tauranga, New Zealand. Children from Tauranga have already participated in two editions of ICEFA Lidice and although they come from one of the most distant countries participating in the competition, their interest in the exhibition was sparked by a very close connection with Lidice – Mr Paul Horak, the grandson of pilot Josef Horák from Lidice who served as a Czechslovak airman in RAF during the war, inspired them to take part in the exhibition.
In the 47th edition on the topic of Chemistry, Sienna Olsen received an honorable mention for her drawing and Ella Mitchell for her photography. In this year's 48th edition, Jack Olsen received an honorable mention for his photographs of coastal landscapes. The award ceremony accompanied by an exhibition of children's art took place at The Incubator Creative Hub. The event was also attended by members of the Czech and Slovak Club Tauranga and Mr. Frank Grapl, its current president.
Our thanks to all who contributed to the organization of the award ceremony and congratulations to the winners! We are looking forward to seeing artworks from Tauranga, and hopefully also from other places in New Zealand, sent to the next year’s 49th ICEFA Lidice - on the topic of "Robot and artificial intelligence".
