Exhibition of Winning Entries by Latvian Children – ICEFA 2011
From: 6 Nov – 4 Dec 2011
November 5, 2011 saw the opening of the exhibition of the winning entries by the Latvian children awarded prizes in this year’s 39th International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2011, taking place in the presence of a representative of the Latvian Embassy in the Czech Republic, Secretary Jánis Kalva, representatives of the municipality of Náchod, the curator of ICEFA Lidice, the staff of the Regional Museum Náchod, pupils and teachers of the Primary Art School Náchod and many other guests.
The reason why the entries by Latvian children are displayed there is a long-term, mutually beneficial and active co-operation of the town of Náchod and the Latvian town of Bauska. Highly appreciating these international relations, the municipality of Náchod takes various opportunities to introduce the friendly Baltic Republic to their town.
The ceremonial opening started with the mayor of Náchod, Mr. Jan Birke, saying: “The exhibition is another tangible way of co-operation with our partner town Bauska in Latvia”. The opening speech was given by Jánis Kalva, surprisingly, in Czech language, followed by a short professional talk by the curator of the exhibition, Ms. Ivona Kasalická. The opening was tinged with guitars played by pupils of the Primary Art School Náchod.
