On Thursday November 27th, 2014 at 3.30pm the International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2010-2014 opened in the former horse stable of the Nostitz Palace in Prague. Attendees included the Czech Minister of Culture, Mr. Daniel Herman, the Czech Minister for Human Rights, Equal Opportunities and Legislation, Mr. Jiří Dientsbier, the ambassadors of Armenia, India, Iran, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Thailand, and embassy representatives of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and Vietnam, as well as other important figures of Czech political and cultural life, along with participating children and their teachers.

The opening began with speeches by Mr. Daniel Herman and Mr. Milouš Červencl, the Head of Lidice Memorial. These were followed by the Lidice Memorial’s children drama group “PidiLidi“ and their performance And Then It Happened. Mrs. Ivona Kasalicka, the exhibition curator, then elaborated on the significance of ICEFA Lidice and thanked her colleagues, the jury members, sponsors and most of all the children whose works were on display at the exhibition. As a finale, a new catalogue summarizing the last 5 years of ICEFA (2010-2014) was introduced. It was published by Lidice Memorial with the help of The Ministry of Culture and includes more than 180 awarded works by children from 42 countries. Also, a new 2015 table calendar full of images from the last year’s ICEFA was introduced to visitors. A toast to the catalogue and the calendar was made by Mr. Herman, Mr. Jiri Dientsbier, Mr. Červencl, by Mr. Jiří Zedník, the Jury Chairman, and by Mr. David Havlík, Director of the Whynot advertising agency.

The exhibition will be open to the public at Nostitz Palace every work day from 10am to 4pm through January 23rd, 2015. Come see the exceptional children works that have been awarded in the last 5 years of ICEFA (2010-2014) along with selected children pictures based on the theme of Christmas. The works represent 36 countries including the Czech Republic.
