ICEFA 2010 prize awards - Japan, Tokyo

The 11th January 2011 saw certificates presented at the Embassy in Tokyo to the Japanese children whose works of art had been awarded honourable mentions in the 38th International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2010.
The ceremony was opened with a speech explaining the mission of the Lidice exhibition, followed by a message of greeting and of thanks to the art schools. The event was attended by just six-year-old Taisei Furukawa and Shotaro Yoshida, their parents, the headmistress of the art school, her assistant and Mr. Hiroshi Kai, who has been cooperating with the Embassy on the Lidice competition from the very beginning (almost 40 years!). The third winner, Mako Watanabe, was not able to come to the Embassy. The award ceremony saw the Embassy represented by Ambassadress K. Fialová, Head of the Cultural Department V. Kosičková and assistant L Murakami.
The official part of the event was followed by the tour through the ceremonial rooms of the Embassy and the Czech Centre Tokyo where the visitors could see also the current exhibition of Czech Typography.
