On 7 – 12 June 2011 Astana and Karaganda hosted the “Cultural Days of the Visegrad Countries”, continuing the tradition of the “Days of Czech and Polish Culture” in 2009 and 2010.
On 9 June 2011, Astana had projections of Czech, Hungarian and Polish films. The projection of the film “Devil’s bride” was preceded by certificate awards to the schools who had participated in the 38. International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2010. Director Zdeněk Troška answered numerous questions from enthusiastic viewers. These projections continued on 10 – 12 June 2011. On the invitation initiated by the Ambassador’s wife, a showing of a fairytale was attended by children from several children’s homes. Mrs. Kopecká also organized the showing of a Czech fairytale and the performance of the band Pozdní sběr in a nursing home in Astana on 10 June 2011.
Cultural Days of the Visegrad Countries had a good media coverage, particularly by the Kazakh public-service television. It is worth mentioning that although an economic forum of Islamic countries took place at that time, Cultural days of the Visegrad Countries prevailed in TV Astana and TV Kazakhstan on 7 June 2011.Also interviews with the heads of the missions were broadcasted on this occasion.
